Dog Training 101

Dog Training 101

This video explains how to teach a hyper-dog to obey commands by using treats. The dogs he uses in this video are quite large and they look very unsettled. He goes on to explain that as soon as the dog completes the command it gets a treat immediately. The clicker he uses lets the dog know it has completed the command. A clicker is not totally necessary as you can just use a word that the dog will relate to in the same way.

It is important that you always use the same word as it will get confusing for the dog. Consistency is very important when training a dog. The main thing is that the dog understands you and trusts you. Once you have trust with your dog you can get your dog to do what you want. They need you to acknowledge that they are doing the correct thing. If you are happy they are happy. Eventually, your dog will do things for you without the treats. All you will have to do is give them praise.

“This is a MUST for anyone new to dog training, or anyone who has reached a plateau. Dog training should not be about domination, but communication. The latest installment of my “Dog Training 101″ series is up, and it’s a good one!”
